Theological Analysis

What we learn about God

God looks down from heaven to see if any understand and seek Him, revealing His desire for relationship but also His righteous judgment on universal sin.

Christological Connection

Jesus is the salvation that comes out of Zion, restoring the fortunes of His people and turning away the universal corruption described here.

Systematic Theology

Total Depravity. Left to themselves, human beings are corrupt and reject God entirely.

Law & Grace

The passage declares that no one keeps the Law ("there is none who does good"). Salvation must therefore come entirely through God's Grace descending from Zion.

Personal Application

We must acknowledge our own sinful tendencies, reject the foolishness of living as if God does not exist, and eagerly await His salvation.
