Zephaniah 2

Main Highlights

Zephaniah calls the nation to seek God while there is still time, and pronounces judgment on the surrounding nations.

Key Verses

Gather yourselves together, yes, gather together, O nation without shame, Before the decree takes effect— Like chaff that passes away the day before— Before the burning anger of Yahweh comes upon you, Before the day of Yahweh’s anger comes upon you. Seek Yahweh, all you humble of the earth, Who have carried out His ordinances; Seek righteousness, seek humility. Perhaps you will be hidden On the day of Yahweh’s anger.— Zephaniah 2:1-3
For Gaza will be abandoned, And Ashkelon a desolation; Ashdod will be driven out at noon, And Ekron will be uprooted.— Zephaniah 2:4
This will be theirs in return for their pride, Because they have taunted and boasted against the people of Yahweh of hosts.— Zephaniah 2:10
