Questions

What do we learn about God?

We learn that God is approachable, fair, and cares for the marginalized. When Moses brings the women's case to Him, God immediately responds with justice, declaring, "The daughters of Zelophehad are right" (Numbers 27:7).

How is Christ Connected?

Jesus is the ultimate fulfillment of Moses' prayer for a successor. Moses asks for a leader so the people "may not be as sheep that have no shepherd" (Numbers 27:17), pointing directly to Jesus, the Good Shepherd who leads and saves His flock.

What Theology concept is taught?

The doctrine of Divine Provision and Succession is taught. God ensures His people are not left without leadership, telling Moses to "Take Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the Spirit, and lay your hand on him" (Numbers 27:18).

Do we see Law or Grace?

The chapter beautifully blends law and grace by adjusting legal precedent to show grace to women who would otherwise be destitute. God commands Moses to "transfer the inheritance of their father to them" (Numbers 27:7), ensuring the law serves justice and mercy.

Personal Application

Believers should boldly bring their petitions to God, trusting in His fairness, and we should pray for Spirit-filled leaders "that the congregation of the Lord may not be as sheep that have no shepherd" (Numbers 27:17).
